St. Johnsbury Community FarmThe St. J Community FarmThe St. Johnsbury Community Farm is an approximately 3 acre parcel of land resting between the Passumpsic River and the railroad tracks accessed from Old Center Road in St Johnsbury, Vermont. This project is managed by St. J. ALFA (Area Local Food Alliance) a registered 501c3 non-profit, volunteer organization. The Community Farm began in 2009 as a jointly managed project and in 2011 St. J. ALFA became the sole managing organization.
The Community Farm model cultivates the land as one large garden. Volunteers are the farmers and our community members benefit from all that is grown here either by taking food home in exchange for volunteer time or in deliveries to local meal sites and food shelves. St. J. ALFA is a non-profit 501c3 comprised entirely of volunteer members. St. J. ALFA manages all facets of the community farm including: volunteer relationship building; farming; educational workshops; community events; and delivering food. A great deal of this projects success is dependant upon community partnerships. Some of the many folks that have lent helping hands in a variety of ways are:
